ITV player is set to be launched by ITV following the success of BBC’s similar format, BBC iPlayer. This will be launched first on the Freesat package allowing a ‘catch-up’ and on demand service. An official statement from ITV confirms the expected arrival date to be later this year.

Freesat has also boosted its profile by supporting Video on Demand serices (VOD).

To be able to access the BBC iPlayer and ITV Player service buyers will need to own a receiver with an Ethernet Port that connects to the Broadband Internet. Most new receivers have this facility.
